Our Showcase: What we covered and what’s next
Last Wednesday, 15th of April, we finally launched Nodey with our webinar: Nodey: Structural Engineering Reimagined. After the countless hours and sleepless nights we have poured into this, it was great to see our CEO and Co-Founder live demonstrating the app to over 60 structural engineering businesses, and over 80 attendees. The focus of this webinar was how structural engineering workflows can be streamlined, and how time can be cut in half when you use Nodey in your workplace. This wasn’t a theoretical idea of how it could possibly happen, but instead a live demonstration of how Nodey is actively functioning.
Nodey reimagines structural engineering and demonstrates a new approach directors should take when it comes to their business. Currently, there are a few things clogging up workflow and doubling the time it takes engineers to do their jobs, forcing them to spend countless hours on repetitive admin and significantly less time on real engineering judgement. Manual interpretation of plans, repetitive calculations, and time spent on documentation are just a few of the things we originally set out to reduce for our own engineering consulting firm, before realizing if it’s a problem for us, it’s a problem for everyone. So we connected all of these things into a single system that can use the originally input information to automate the workflow so anything unnecessary can be done by the computer, rather than manually.
Key takeaways from the session:
1. Structural interpretation can be simplified.
How much time in consulting firms right now is currently spent manually interpreting plans. Nodey shifts this process into a more structured and consistent system, where key structural elements are identified and understood in one place. This reduces ambiguity early on and removes a significant amount of repetitive groundwork that typically sits at the start of every project.
2. Workflow Automation is the Real Efficiency Gain
The biggest efficiency gain isn’t just faster calculations, it’s the removal of duplicated effort. Instead of re-entering the same information across multiple tools, Nodey connects everything, from the initial quote through to structural checks, into a single continuous process. This creates a more streamlined workflow where information flows from stage to stage rather than being reentered at every step.
3. Real-Time Feedback Improves Decision Making
Having visibility into how structural elements are performing as you go changes the way decisions are made during design. Rather than waiting to validate assumptions, engineers can iterate in real time, adjusting and refining as they go. This not only speeds up the process but also reduces the likelihood of rework further down the line.
4. Reporting Becomes a Byproduct
Documentation is one of the most time consuming parts of structural engineering, but it doesn’t need to be. In the workflow we demonstrated, reporting is generated alongside the design process, rather than being a separate task. The result is consistent outputs that are aligned with compliance requirements.
It was exciting to see all the positive feedback and questions following this webinar, the most popular one being “When can I use it?” There was the most interest how much time it saves across projects, and how it can reduce the repetitive manual work. The biggest thing we took away is that the engineering field is in much need of some updated tools that move with the time. By connecting interpretation, analysis, and reporting into a single workflow, this approach reflects a shift toward a more streamlined and practical way of working.
We are currently refining the platform for its initial public release sometime in early May. Once the platform is launched we will be using live industry feedback to keep adding tools, refining the app, and making sure to add everything engineers want most.
